Short and long-stay visas
Long-stay visa. Non-EU nationals need to obtain a long-stay visa right after the work permit has been issued. This type of visa have to be issued in 60 days after the work permit has been obtained (both for local hires and assignments, that is D/AM and D/DT type of visas, respectively) as a mandatory prerequisite for getting the residence permit.
The non-EU national’s family members have to obtain a different type of visa, named family reunification visa (D/VF type) within 60 days from obtaining the reunification family approval.
Short-stay visa. Non-EU nationals that already have a Romanian residence permit might need to get a short-term visa in order to visit other EU or non-EU countries, for business or personal purposes.
