COVID Certificates: An update.

Due to the worsening situation regarding COVID, The Romanian Government established different restrictions to minimize the number of infected cases with the Sars-Cov-2 virus. One of the restrictions is the limitation of the access in different economic operators, that sell non-essential products, or in the public institutions, by only giving access to people that possess a COVID certificate (also known as green pass). It is important to note that the public institutions in Romania have the right to scan your COVID certificate and ask you to show you ID, residence card or passport to check your identity.

The COVID certificate is divided in three categories:

  1. THE VACCINATION CERTIFICATE

Romania recognizes the following vaccines for expats that were vaccinated in a non-EU country:

  • Comirnaty – Pfizer;
  • Moderna;
  • Vaxzevria – AstraZeneca;
  • Janssen – Johnson&Johnson;
  • Covishield (AstraZeneca – Serum Institute of India).

The certificate is available after 10 days from the last administration of the dose.

  1. THE RECOVERY CERTIFICATE

People who recovered from Covid receive a COVID certificate that is available from the 15th day from the last positive test to 180th day from the last positive test.

  1. THE TEST CERTIFICATE

The Romanian Government excepts the limitations for people who are not vaccinated or have a recovery certificate to enter public institutions or non-essential shops, by showing a negative PCR test that is not older than 72 hours or an Antigen Test done at a medical clinic, that is not older than 48 hours.
